Our name
Why are we called Broca?
Our practice pays tribute to Dr. Paul Broca (1824-1880), born on June 28, 1824 in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, France, whose work as a physician, anatomist, surgeon, pathologist and anthropologist was a milestone in science.
He was a multidisciplinary visionary whose ability to combine the rigor of pathological anatomy with scientific observation allowed him to locate, for the first time in history, the biological seat of language in the human brain.
This fundamental discovery, concerning the brain area that now bears his name, forever changed neurology, neuropsychology and the foundations of modern medicine.
